Xebia has organized AGILE NCR 2008 Conference in cooperation with Agile Software Community of India. This event took place at Ansal Institute of Technology at Gurgaon. Around 120 participants from India and abroad have attended this first conference on Agile Software Development in North India.
"A gripping keynote was delivered by Pete Deemer to kick off the day. Basically Pete warned us for the hardships of Agile adoption by discussing his top 19 lessons of Agile adoption at Yahoo! and other companies. While some companies experience a delight when implementing Agile others have a very hard and frustrating time and don’t reap the full benefits. His 19 lessons were geared towards making sure you fall into the positive category."
Guido Schoonheim, Participant Agile NCR 2008 in his blog
In this conference various experts presented experience reports regarding adoption of Agile in Indian IT industry. Another track of presentation covered topics like CMMi and Agile and application of Agile Techniques in Waterfall projects.
The conference ended with an intense Open Space session followed by a lucky draw for an iPOD.
Xebia has announced Migration to JBoss program after completion of its first pilot project. Due to the consolidation in the Java application server market, large enterprises are considering migrating to quality open source software that offers high level of service quality and performance. JBoss application server, backed by reliability and service guarantee of Redhat, offers a great alternative to run mission critical Java applications for large enterprises.
Several large enterprises have already migrated to JBoss environment and achieved a great reduction in the application server license costs.
Xebia offers its customers a unique model to migrate Enterprise Java applications to JBoss based upon no cure, no pay principle. This brings the risk of migration projects further down because the customer only pays when it is guaranteed that the promised cost savings can be achieved without compromising the quality and performance of the migrated application.
A Presentation on Agile Migration Approach of Xebia
A simple migration project typically takes 1-3 weeks. Most of the migration activities are carried out at the software development centre of Xebia located in India which offers significantly lower costs as compared to the cost of onsite resources.
Pilot Project Experience Report
Xebia recommend customers to migrate in small manageable increments instead of following a big bang approach where all the applications are migrated and then brought in to production in one go. In the coming months together with Redhat, Xebia is planning to conduct Migration to JBoss seminars. If you are interested in a hassle free trial of our migration program then please get in touch with us through email at infoindia at xebia dot com.
